The 10 days Integrated Project Fieldwork is the synthesis of all knowledge acquired in previous modules.
It enables students to analyze real-life Geomatics Engineering tasks and to solve these tasks and problems using an engineering approach autonomously.
Through carefully designed project planning, students will simultaneously develop project management and teamwork skills. The fieldwork is conducted at various locations in the vicinity of Stuttgart—typically on the Swabian Alb near Reutlingen. The project takes place at the end of the lecture period of the second semester and is completed at the beginning of the third semester.

The fourth semester is exclusively reserved for the master’s thesis.
With the master’s thesis, students are required to demonstrate their ability to complete and document a well-defined research project within a given time frame.
The master’s thesis must be written in English. It may only be started after successfully completing at least 60 credit points (ECTS) from mandatory and elective modules, including the corresponding examinations of the first three semesters.
The master’s thesis must be completed within six months. In exceptional cases, the submission deadline may be extended to a maximum of nine months.
The start of the master’s thesis must be officially documented by the Examination Office of the University of Stuttgart.
